DI has signed a partner agreement with Unloc, the start-up company that creates software that can unlock smart door locks. The Unloc technology is integrated in the carriers delivery guides, which eliminates the need for regular keys to apartment buildings. This will potentially save a lot of time and administration for the newspaper distribution companies. DI can also offer this technology to other logistics companies, which will make them able to deliver parcels to apartment buildings even if the receivers are not at home.
A pilot project started this month in Oslo, which includes locks from the startup Unloc, carriers from Schibsted Distribusjon Øst and up to 30 selected customers from Brandhub, the owner of the food kit vendors Adams Matkasse, Godt Levert and Proviant. The pilot is to deliver the food kits to customers by accessing a suitable place at the customers property. The locks from Unloc are integrated in the EDG, which is easy to operate for the carriers. The pilot will end in December.
